Survival course for advanced users

  • When Dec 11, 2017 to Dec 15, 2017 (Europe/Stockholm / UTC100)
  • Where Lila Tuna, ESS, Lund
  • Contact Name Stuart Ansell
  • Attendees SA, KB, VS, RK, JS, TR
  • Add event to calendar iCal

The schedule — which is entirely flexible is:

Building Primary objects

  • FixedComp/FixedOffset/ContainedComp/CellMap/SurfMap
    • pre/post rotation + offset
    • boundaries  + inner boundaries
  • Link System
    • naming points
    • access surfaces / complements
    • bridge surfaces (and rotation over Gimbol lock plane)
    • Coordinate transfer to new FixedComp

Secondary systems:

Groups systems e.g. FixedGroup FixedGroupOffset, ContainedGroup etc.

  • Default Axis set
  • Iteration with named units

Property system

  • FrontBackCut
  • LD3 / LD1 division of cells

AttachSupport:

Placing a FixedComp in another FixedComp IF you don't know exactly if that occurs or how much overlap etc. This will do SurfIntersection / LinkIntersection / LineIntersection etc.

InputSystem

How the variable system and the inputParam system interact.

Problem Setup

  • Tally
  • Physics
  • Sources
  • Materials

i.e. using CombLayer's FixedComp names and variables to avoid mistakes, e.g. making a tally about a named link point etc.

Variance Reduction

Everything that is not weight windows:

  • FCL (forced collision)
  • EXT (directional bias)
  • Other ...
  • How to add something new

Adjoint — CADIS

  • Cell based variance reduction
  • Mesh based variance reduction

Activation

Using CINDER without having stress. This may work for PHITS but not 100% about this — you can see.

Ethos

Brief what I learned running a big 350,000 line code base that I think you will have to keep to, to survive (1 slide)
