Recognition of scientific results

The priority of scientific results of the school is recognized all over the world.

At the Californian Technology Institute (USA) the crystal-diffraction spectrometers have been created, in which the results on a choice of the crystallographic planes and the special crystal cut orientations have been used. Using them, the measurements of chemical and isotopic shifts of X-ray lines by the technique developed in the laboratory are carried out. By the same method the hyperfine shifts of the X-ray lines excited in the K-capture was measured. For similar purposes the crystal-diffraction spectrometers were constructed also in CERN and Julich (Germany), the results obtained in the Laboratory having been widely used.

The spectrometer for Chemical Department of St. Petersburg State University was designed, where it was constructed and used for measurements of chemical and isotopic displacements of X-ray lines of K- and L-series.

Considerably our results were used at creation of crystal diffraction g-spectrometers at ILL (Grenoble, France).

A few crystal diffraction spectrometers for study of hadronic atoms were created in Gatchina. One of them was used for measurement of p-meson mass in PNPI, after modernization it was mounted at the Serpukhov accelerator in IHEP and was used there for measurements of masses of K--meson and S--hyperon.

The second one was mounted at the meson factory at PSI (Switzerland), where the p-meson atoms were investigated.

The creation of the meson-generating target by positioning a sample in a direct beam of the accelerator has increased the yield of exotic atoms by some orders of magnitude, the target has obtained a world recognition as the "Gatchina target".

Installation on a channelling was used for experiment at FNAL (USA) on measurement of magnetic moment of a S+-hyperon.

Investigations on a beam focusing at the channelling in a single crystals have caused a wide resonance and have been developed at IHEP (Serpukhov) and at FNAL (USA).

An X-ray measurement station for calibration of the wire positions in straw proportional tubes, which are the basic building blocks of the ATLAS endcap Transition Radiation Tracker, has been constructed for ATLAS experiment at CERN.
